The Department of Computer Science and Engineering came into existence in 1999. The first-degree program offered by the department was a B.Tech. (Computer Engineering) in affiliation with Rajasthan Technical University Kota. The first batch graduated in 2003. In 2007, the M.Tech. (Computer Engineering) program was initiated. In July 2016, the Ph.D. Research Center at RTU was established. At present, the Computer Engineering Department is offering the following degree programs:

The faculty at Computer Engineering believes in open interaction with students, who are encouraged to participate in academic, research, and extracurricular activities. Students have never misplaced the trust put in them by the department and have done well in academics and industry alike.
The Computer Science and Engineering Department has a state-of-the-art, fully air-conditioned computer center equipped with the latest branded Small Form Factor desktop computers and the latest software. With a capacity of 400 users, this computer center has High-Speed DIGILINK-certified Certified Network infrastructure with 30 Mbps internet bandwidth from Tata Teleservices Pvt. Ltd. The computer center has been providing computing and network facilities to the whole of the campus.
The computer center has established a 1 Gigabit network to provide high-speed connectivity to various departments through optical fiber and Cat6E cables. All hostels have Wi-Fi, and students can access the internet free of charge with a hardware firewall installed at the computer center.
The Computer Center has hosted network-based computing software for researchers and social users. A computing laboratory is available for research scholars to perform their tasks. In addition, the latest storage devices, e-mail servers, and web servers have been hosted at the computer center.
Internet access and online training: access to the Internet and optimal use of information technology by all students and faculty members have been initiated by providing more than 400 nodes and internet connection points (excluding Wi-Fi access points) in various departments and the Central Library. The Computer Center, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, has been offering short-term awareness courses for the faculty, non-teaching staff, and research scholars free of charge from time to time. These courses have been very useful for encouraging the faculty, staff, and scholars to make effective use of computer information technology and other support services.
